TPT SALE NOV 30-DEC 1!

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all hanging in there. Many schools in my area are reverting back to remote learning until the middle of January. How about you? I have been enjoying both in-person and remote. Finding the motivators for online sessions has been challenging, but rewarding when I find the right combo! Here is what has been working for my kiddos (only have preschoolers right now as I am enjoying my semi-retired status:

  1. Weather activities been a big hit - I created a PowerPoint with weather visuals. The student goes to the window at their home to check the weather. I include rainy, sunny, windy, snowy, cloudy. My little one the other day (who has a severe motor speech disorder) wanted to change the weather from sunny to rainy with the umbrella. Then she dressed the PowerPoint doll to go outside. I am refining this set to put on TPT. Follow up- using the “MY Play Home” app which she loves.

  2. Tic Tac Tony - a really cute tic tac toe game where you put the chip in the tail and it flips up…included in my favorite games list on TPT- see below

  3. I have also been rewarding students with fake dollar bills. We count all the bills at the end of the session. Two of my little boys thought this was the coolest thing.

  4. Other motivators have been sharing my iPad on the screen using AirServer Universal for Education ($11.99 per year) , Check out my newest iPad app favorites below. I pair the app with a hands-on activity, e.g. Video Touch Animals is paired with my bag of animals. Student points to an animal on the screen, I show them my animal or they show me their animal (I may have them eat or drink, we label and make the sound and then I click on the picture which opens to a video of the animal.

  5. ABCya (make an ice cream cone) , BOOM Cards (my set 5 monkeys swinging in tree, Goldfish Song, 5 Speckled frogs are favorites - each set has the youtube video embedded in the BOOM set. ) 5 Monkeys jumping on the bed is still a top favorite. So I often have my monkeys and a bed readily available to use with the Simple Songs youtube video.

  6. Melissa & Doug removable sticker sets - it’s so great when the student has the same set at home. They tell me where to put the sticker so our pictures match!

  7. Scavenger Hunts - I am working on phonological awareness with a hearing impaired student. I am sending home a list of items for the family to find around the house which starts with a specific sound (I am using the Photo Cue Cards I created which have been tremendous.) They put the objects in a “sound” bucket. A PowerPoint has been created for each set of sounds we work on.

  8. I have also downloaded various virtual backgrounds for my greenscreen, e.g. gameboards and scenes. To Market To Market and The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie was a real hit last week. PowerPoint can be uploaded in Google Drive and opened as Google Slides. I am currently working on some new winter books for PP and BOOM Cards too!!

Let me know if there is anything that would be helpful for you in your speech sessions!
