Old Lady Swallowed A Pie
Updated with 3 additional pages - sequencing cards, board and old lady. I Know An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie is one of my favorite books to use for Thanksgiving. This PowerPoint was given a complete makeover! This book companion does not mention Thanksgiving so that it can be used when doing a food theme throughout the year. I included GREEDY GRANNY because this interactive pop-up game is a favorite in speech therapy. I change out her tray with various themes, e.g. animals, food, speech sounds, vehicles, etc. I thought it would be a very silly story if I made Greedy Granny and the Old Lady sisters and Greedy Granny invited the Old Lady for dinner. I created this book companion to address the following goals.
1. Speech sounds - L - e.g. lady, swallowed, salad, broccoli, bowl, roll, apple,
Consonant blends - e.g. Greedy Granny, swallowed, broccoli, green, bread,
squash
2. Following directions , inference and WH questions
3. Describe feelings (visuals included)- surprised, grossed out, happy, mad
3. Address pronoun - SHE
4. Rhyming words are highlighted throughout the story
5. Story recall - ability to name items in the story and sequence the story
6. Complete the sentence - e.g. The old lady swallowed the cider to go with the _____(pie)
6. Contrast and compare what Greedy Granny ate vs. what the Old Lady ate
7. You will also see a cat on each page - students can look for the cat too - this is “Bucky” my Siberian Forest cat! He goes everywhere just like you see in the pics!!
